Vicki I don't have any campground memberships. To be honest I don't see the need. There are to many campgrounds out there to worry about spending time if just one.

Years ago we belonged to Outdoor World (I think they've been swallowed up by Thousand Trails now). We liked the fact that they had a bunch of parks up and down the east coast, but the cost was prohibitive (membership and dues, not camping), and they charged you for renting their cabins/trailers over and above your membership fees. We also had a level of membership that couldn't be sold so when we fell on economic hard times we had to let it lapse. Currently we have Good Sam and Camp Club USA and I'll probably be letting those expire next year. We just don't use them enough to make the junk mail and the cost worthwhile. The only benefit that I've really liked with any of them was the magazine that comes with Good Sam membership.

We had good sams ...and the road plan with them which is the best!! but other then that we did just purchase a ready camp go package ....(friends have the outdoor world / thousand trails and they pay 500 per year membership and they paid like 5000-6000 for the package) I don't get that at all but I guess if they use it enough it will pay for its self eventually I like being able to camp where I want but the ready set go package fit us good because we get a 10% discount on the cabins and when we camp it only costs 20 per night (up to 30 nights per year).....I figured it out that if we camp like 10 -12 nights per year it will easily pay for itself. (and we camp well over 10-12 nights in a year) we can renew or not renew and we can upgrade if we want to. We got it cause our friends that have the outdoor world camp alot but can only bring us as guests up to 5 times a year and even then it costs us 32.00 per night. We just camped and stayed in a cabin and we saved like 30.00 over the three nights. We are hoping to get a rv/tt or something soon then we can really save a bit money they have campgrounds all over the US when we get our new RV we will probably up grade to the next level if this works out good it was cheap too only cost 99.00 if we upgrade it will be another 100 still not bad then you get 60 nights camping and 20% on cabins etc...

We Joined Thousand Trails this year (Belonged to Outdoor world in 80s) Joined this year for only $450.00  no contract no big $$$s. with that we get about 30 CGs east of the Mississippi. It has definitely paid offfor us. We go to Lake and Shore Outdoor world A lot, Spring and Fall. Took A 2 week vacation in July went to Williams burg, Lancaster, and Hershey. 2 solid weeks and no charge for any campsites. We have another vac planned in OCT. we will go to Gettysburg then back up to Hershey, Also we can take guests with their own unit and they only pay $32.00 per day full hookup.  IMHO cant beat it. No commitment and just redo each year,

Happy Camping

Just go to their website, They are now offering it at $499.00 per year with 3 zones. all the info is there. Our deal was with A eastern zone the whole east coast and A couple in Texas. We love it and we have saved the $450.00 A couple of times over this year already. Plus we still have till Feb to use it before renewing, Best $450.00 I have spent in A long while.

Happy Camping

Just be aware, their Gettysburg campground (if it's still the one it was when they were Outdoor World) is closer to York than Gettysburg. It's a good 20-25 mile drive to Gettysburg from there. Otherwise sounds like a good deal.

I'm finding that AAA is a better deal than most camping memberships. Gets you a discount at a lot of campgrounds, discounts at attractions, roadside assistance, etc. Just a thought.

We are aware of its location. It has us closer to Lancaster for the first few days, as the wife always want to hit the shops(even though she knows them by heart) then when we get up to Hershey we will have time to hit the Casino at penn national and we will be meeting up with some members of the Cedar Creek owners Club there.

Happy Camping!!!!
