I found this site in a sticky posting on the open roads RV forum, so I figured I'd head over and check it out. We're in south Jersey (about 45 minutes from east of Philadelphia) and have been thinking about trying to find other families to camp with from the area. I figured joining here could be a good start. There are 4 of us - me, wife and two boys age 9 and 7. We just returned from a 2 week trip to Maine and Lake George which was all great fun!! We can't wait to go camping again.

Welcome gutsy. I'm from South Jersey as well. Used to live in Palmyra and Pennsauken. Am now in Salem county not far from the DelMem Bridge. Mrs RevDon and I have four foster kids ages 10, 7, 3 and 2. Also a grown daughter (23) still living at home. We just bought our HTT this year and are also looking for folks to camp with and meet. Perhaps we should compare notes?

Welcome to the board. We're all local, that's the great thing about this board. We'll all meet someday. We're planning a trip to Yogi Bear in Elmer ourselves. Details will be in another thread if your interested.

Hi Todd and Don (I'm guessing based on your user name) - Thanks for the welcome. Would be good to meet up - fall is tough for us with soccer (and all my son's games are scheduled for 11am - its a weekend killer). We are trying to plan a trip for that week in November when all the schools are closed for teacher's convention. Would like to go south somewhere, but can't do it without a group with kids since there will be none others except Jersey folk. To Don - we should compare notes. Our current unit is our third (we started with a pop-up, went to a hybrid and now have a half hybrid (front fold out bed, hardsided bunks in the back). We mostly do longer (week, week +) trips out of state since they wind up being our family vacation. Depending on sports in the spring we'd be up for some weekend type jaunts more locally.

Hello gutsy4 and welcome How did you like lake George? We were there several years ago and just loved it. We had a lake front site. It was so peaceful one of the best weeks of camping we have ever had.

Lake George is a great place to visit. This was our 4th year back up at Lake George RV Park (its a few miles from the village). I can't say enough good things about this campground. We weren't planning to go back, but when the kids heard that they threatened to mutiny. We've already warned them that we're planning for somewhere new next year. Its more than likely, though, we'll be back to Lake George RV Park at some point down the road....

We did - for one night on the way to Acadia/Bar Harbor. We were only there one night and were not overly impressed. Might be because it was just a stopover, we didn't get a chance to explore and it rained overnight. We were not in the supersites area which I hear is better. When we're back up that way we might give it a second chance since most of the reviews are favorable.
